It was built in 1873, and is a single-span, barrel-vaulted stone bridge structure. The bridge structure is a semi-circular vaulted tunnel through a man-made earthen embankment. The bridge is an architecturally significant remnant of an unrealized transportation scheme dating to Reconstruction Era following the American Civil War.
